This is a great salad to include in your repertoire. Grapefruit has shown to lower blood pressure and support a healthy heart due to its fiber, potassium, lycopene, vitamin C and choline.
- One head of Romaine lettuce, washed and chopped into bite sized pieces
- ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
- Fruit sections of 1 whole grapefruit
- 1 avocado, diced
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of one grapefruit
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Combine and toss together first 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Squeeze the remaining juice from the grapefruit skin over the salad, drizzle olive oil and salt and pepper over salad. Combine to incorporate dressing and flavors.
